One question I have is that I’ve read before where the weights came off and broke the red plastic part as they were working out (some getting hit in the face while bench pressing). Is it better to always keep the red plastic part facing up while doing any routine to put the least stress on the weights and prevent this from occurring? Any advice would help.

When I am finished I usually just drop them on the floor on the floor because the weights are solid iron, or coated in rubber or something and the gyms all have the protective flooring. Will these weights be durable enough to handle the dropping like I usually do? Will I need to buy a floor mat? Or will there be too much clanking or will it damage the dials or any other part?
